Legendary “Good Times” actor John Amos is reportedly hospitalized in the intensive care unit. But he denies his daughter’s claim that he’s in critical condition after becoming a victim of elder abuse.
His daughter Shannon Amos claimed he’s falling victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation, according to a GoFundMe she set up on his behalf.

John Amos Denies Daughter’s Claims That He’s A Victim Of Elder Abuse, Confirms Hospitalization
However, Amos himself tells TMZ that no one is abusing him, and he isn’t currently fighting for his life. The TV star reportedly doesn’t know why his daughter created the GoFundMe.
Amos’ representative Belinda Foster tells the outlet that he’s been hospitalized due to fluid filling up in his lower body and into his abdomen. The health scare was causing problems with his heart, TMZ reports, but he’s reportedly not in life-threatening danger.

In fact, doctors have since drained all of the fluid, and Foster says Amos is almost back to 100 percent health-wise.

Initial reports from Amos’ daughter indicated the “Coming to America” actor was fighting for his life after suffering elder abuse. Shannon also said her father was a victim of financial exploitation.
Daughter Created GoFundMe With $500K Goal Purportedly For Father’s Legal, Health Expenses
Last month, Shannon says she got a distressing call from her dad. The 83-year-old allegedly told her he was in a Memphis hospital.
Shannon did not provide many specifics or reveal who she believes is abusing him. However, she did describe the perpetrator as one of Amos’ caregivers, according to the GoFundMe.
She created the fundraiser purportedly to help her father with legal expenses, care, and aftercare as they look to bring those reportedly responsible to justice.

As of Thursday (June 8), the fundraiser has raised $3,445 of a lofty $500,000 goal.
It’s unclear what effect this new revelation will have on the GoFundMe.
Amos is best known for his roles as the adult Kunta Kinte in the landmark miniseries “Roots,” “Good Times,” as well as “Coming to America.”
