Starting this Friday (May 19), Toronto hardcore stalwarts Fucked Up are hitting the road with The Halluci Nation (fka A Tribe Called Red) — Ottawa electronic veterans known for injecting elements of First Nations music into their trippy dance grooves — for a 10-date, two-week, co-headlining Canadian run of performances dubbed the “Here’s the Unity” tour. In addition to performances by both groups, the tour will feature “independent wrestling superstar Daniel Makabe, who will take on opponents in matches on stage and around the venue inspired by Latin American street wrestling!,” per a press release. Fucked Up will also play two festivals amid the brief but busy string of shows, as well as a set with support from Restraining Order in Boston on June 5, just a day after “Here’s the Unity” finishes in Montreal.

In anticipation of their physical union, FU and THN have shared a joint cover of “Electroshock,” a 1980 hit by Mexican post-punks Dangerous Rhythm (now Ritmo Peligroso). The new song finds both bands leaving their comfort zones: Fucked Up move away from their perpetually pissed-off ethos, with frontman Damian Abraham occupying an uncharacteristically lighthearted space instead. And The Halluci Nation adopt a meaner exterior than they normally would, eschewing slick, club-ready textures for the rough edges of punk.
