Police are investigating the shooting death of Joshua Taylor, a Memphis resident who was labeled a person of interest in the 2021 murder of Young Dolph, born Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr. Family members told ABC24 that Taylor’s body was discovered on Wednesday; there are currently no suspects in connection with the murder.
Taylor was identified by police as a person of interest in Dolph’s February 2022 killing in a Memphis bakery. According to Fox 13, Taylor was not a suspect in Dolph’s killing, but may have had information on the alibi of Justin Johnson, who is charged with first-degree murder in the case. Taylor had a number of outstanding warrants including theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000 and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Four other men have been charged in connection with Dolph’s death. In January 2022, 32-year-old Cornelius Smith was arrested and booked with first-degree murder, weapons possession, and theft. Last week, Jermarcus Johson pleaded guilty to three counts of accessory after the fact and avoided a trial. Devin Burns is currently charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of property theft. Hernandez Govan, who is accused of masterminding the robbery and shooting that claimed Dolph’s life, has pleaded not guilty.
