Hello, fellow travel bugs! We’ve all been there, haven’t we? Living the dream on the open road, soaking up the sun, culture, and experiences like a sponge. It’s a cracking adventure, no doubt about it! But, between you me and the gatepost, there comes a time when every journeyman’s boots start to feel a tad worn, and the call of home starts to sound as comforting as a Sunday roast. So, how do you know when it’s time to swap the endless horizon for your own comfy sofa? Here are some key signs home is calling.

  1. You’ve started dreaming about beans on toast

If all you can think about is the comfort food that you can only get (or which only tastes right) at home, then it could be a sign you are yearning to get back to the comfort of the familiar, at least for a little while, so it could be time to start looking at your U.K.ABROAD passport renewal or the cheapest available flights to take you back to where you want to be. You can always start travelling again in the future, so it’s not all or nothing.

  1. Your backpack is falling apart

If your backpack is falling apart, chances are you have travelled every road and highway, seen a lot of things, eaten a lot of delicious local delicacies, and sunbathed on more beaches than you can remember, Chances are you are feeling just as worn out as your once-sturdy travel companion and taking a break could be on the cards. Then again, it might just mean that you need to buy a new backpack – only you will know!

  1. The thrill is gone

If you are starting to feel jaded about the things you see; if you no longer stare in awe at the colosseum or find delight in those amazing stuffed vine leaves in that hidden little cafe, then it could be a sign that you’ve done too much travelling of late, you’re tired and you need to go home and refresh yourself so you can really appreciate the cultures you visit once you start up again.

  1. You’re wishing for the weather at home

If you find yourself inexplicably wishing for the British rain to appear in the middle of a Mediterranean summer or you miss the smell of damp leaves after a misty Autumn morning in your homeland, while you’re sunning yourself n the beach, it’s a key indicator that your travels may have come to an end for now, and going home to an ever-changing climate is just the thing you need to feel right until the next time the travel bug takes a bite of you.

If you spot any of these signs, then it could be that travelling endlessly has taken its toll on you, no matter how amazing the experience might have been, and there is no shame in that. You can get back to it once you’ve taken some time out to relax at home.
