Loskop Dam Nature Reserve

The popular Loskop Dam Nature Reserve is located deep in Mpumalanga’s Heartland, and 55km north of Middelburg. The Dam itself is 27km long, making it one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Loskop Nature Reserve is a paradise for nature lovers, and it is home to a wide array of wildlife and different species of birds. As such, you are very likely to spot some members of the Big 5, as well as other mammals. You can go game viewing by boat or enjoy the hiking trails at the reserve. There is also the option to go fishing at the dam, or engage in a bit of horse-riding or a game of paintball.

Middelburg Country Club

Located on the edge of the town, the Middelburg Country Club is the place to be if you’d like to partake in some fun and interesting activities.
At the club, one finds the Middleburg Golf Course which has a huge history that dates as far back as the 1890’s. The history-rich and well-maintained golf course is the ideal place to enjoy a good game of golf. Other facilities at the Middelburg Country Club include a swimming pool, tennis courts, squash courts and a bar.

Middelburg Historical Tour
If you’re a history buff, the Middelburg Historical Tour is for you! It is a great way to learn more about the Anglo-Boer War and the important role which Middelburg played in it.
You will also get to explore a number of historical buildings, including the English Fort and the building where Louis Trichardt signed the peace treaty in. The town also boasts significant Jewish history which you will get the opportunity to learn more about.
Botshabelo Historical Village

The Botshabelo Historical Village was originally a place of refuge for Christians where the Gospel was widely proclaimed amongst black people.
It incorporates a Ndebele village which comprises of an open-air museum. At the site, interesting tribal culture is preserved, and visitors can experience rich traditions. It is the chance to gain insight into different elements of the Ndebele culture including clothing, beadwork and colourful homesteads.
