‘We were at war’
After their decades-long rivalry over who was Hollywood’s No. 1 action hero, Sylvester Stallone says Arnold Schwarzenegger is “superior.” In the second installment of the new docuseries, “Arnold,” Sly concedes that his rival-turned-pal was ultimately the winner in a competition he compared to heavyweight boxers Mohammad Ali and Joe Frazier. “He just had all the answers. He had the body. He had the strength. That was his character,” Sylvester explained in the film (via Insider), out now on Netflix . “Arnold, he never got hurt too much, and I’m going, ‘Arnold, you could go out and fight a dragon and you’d come back with a Band-Aid.’ … He wanted to be number one. Unfortunately, he got there,” Sly said.
Arnold also shared his thoughts about his 1980s and ’90s-era rivalry with the “Rocky” and “Rambo” star. “We were competing about everything — the body being ripped and oiled up. Who is more vicious. Who is more tough. Who uses bigger knives. Who uses bigger guns. Sly and I were at war,” he recalled. “We were incredibly antagonistic. We couldn’t even stand to be in the same room. People had to separate us.” Today, of course, the two are close friends. Arnold even credits Sylvester for pushing him to achieve more than he might have had he not been in the competition mindset. “Without Stallone, I maybe wouldn’t have been as motivated during the ’80s to do the kind of movies I did and work as hard as I did,” Arnold said.

Million dollar baby
Who needs toys when dad’s got a pile of $100 bills? Cardi B and Offset’s 21-month-old son, Wave Cephus, made an adorable appearance on Offset’s Instagram on Thursday, June 8. Photos posted by the Migos rapper showed the toddler — clad in diamond earrings and a diaper — playing with a wad of Benjamins on the floor in front of what looks like Offset’s extensive sneaker collection. One photo shows Wave holding the stack of cash, either before or after it landed at his feet. Another cute snap shows Offset cradling his little guy protectively in his arms. “Bad Boy Wave,” Offset captioned the post. “My babyyyyy,” chimed in Wave’s mom, Cardi, in the coments. The rappers are also parents to daughter Kulture, 4. “Just spending time with them is the best thing ever,” Cardi recently told “Exta.” “My favorite day is when I can wake up and take my daughter to school. I take my little nap. Wake up at noon, spend time with my son, get Kulture back home, and chill.”

Cannes flip-flops, explained
Jennifer Lawrence is clearing up a misnomer about her rule-breaking red carpet footwear moment at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. In a nutshell? Sometimes a flip-flop is just a flip-flop. Last month, the actress attended the festival in a bright red Christian Dior couture gown to celebrate the new documentary she produced, “Bread and Roses.” At one point on the night of the screening, photographers caught the star descending the red carpet staircase with a pair of black flip-flops peeking out from beneath her gown. Given the festival’s long held, unspoken, heels-only rule for women on the Croissette — and the recent trend of stars like Julia Roberts bucking the sexist etiquette to keep their feet comfy — folks assumed J.Law was making a statement. She was not. She’s just prone to tripping over fancy dresses and stairs.
“I would really like to straighten this out,” the actress recently told Entertainment Tonight when asked if the flip-flops were part of some larger message. “I was not making a political statement, not that I wouldn’t. I had no idea until it like, came out that there was a whole controversy with people wearing flats, or like, walking down the red carpet barefoot. I had no clue. My shoes were a size too big,” she continued. “And I wore heels going up, but then I forgot to take a picture with my production team, Excellent Cadaver. So, we had to take an Excellent Cadaver picture, and I knew I would eat s*** if I went down in the shoes that were a size too big. I put on the flip-flops, and then everybody’s like, ‘What a statement! Wow!'” Jen added that while she’s “all for making a statement,” she “just would want it to be on purpose.”
Name change
Bye-bye, Biermann. On Friday, June 9, fans noticed Kim Zolciak has dropped her married name from her Instagram handle as her divorce from former NFL player Kroy Biermann continues to get more contentious. The move comes as Kim prepares to return to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” after leaving the show as a full-time cast member in Season 5. Kim and Kroy announced their split in May 2023 and are reportedly still hashing out the terms of their divorce. In her court filing, Kim called the marriage “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation,” and things have not exactly gotten more positive from there. Kim has petitioned to have Kroy submit to drug screening and Kroy has accused his ex of having squandered their savings with an online gambling problem. Both have claimed in court documents that the other’s parenting ability has been affected by their alleged, respective vices.
All beers welcome
Garth Brooks hopes his new bar in Nashville will feel welcoming and “safe” to all. In a June 2023 interview with Billboard, the singer was asked about the recent controversy over Bud Light’s partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which sparked music star-bar owners like John Rich and Kid Rock to stop selling the beer in their Nashville clubs. “I know this sounds corny .. I want it to be the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks … I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another,” Garth replied. “And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are,” he added. “It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this, if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a******, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.” Garth’s venue, the Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk, has yet to announce an opening date. The singer, who is married to fellow country artist Trisha Yearwood, has a long history of supporting gay marriage and equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community.
The ‘cringey’-est moments on ‘Jeopardy!’
When the current “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings was still a contestant on the show — albeit the most winning contestant in history — there was one segment of the show that he really couldn’t stand. Now that he’s replaced the late Alex Trebek, his opinion remains the same: He’s not a fan of the contestant interviews before the “Double Jeopardy!” round. “I never liked that part. It’s a little cringey,” Ken says in a new profile in the New Yorker. “And, even if the players tell an amazing anecdote perfectly, I mean, that’s just not the time for it, like when they interrupt a football game for Jennifer Lopez or to salute the troops or whatever. Like, why is this happening now?” Over the course of his many wins on the show as a contestant, Ken notes, he had to keep coming up with new anecdotes for the interviews — and the more he won, the more anecdotes were required.
“I have nothing but sympathy for [the contestants], because I did not have seventy-five good stories. I didn’t have three good stories,” he quipped. “Every time I had to fly to L.A. to do more shows, I’d get a call from the contestant coördinator: ‘Hey, just in case you tape ten new shows, can you give us twenty new stories?'” He adds that viewers may see the show as being “kind of calming and cerebral,” but that’s not how it feels on the set. “… In person, for these poor civilians, it’s very intense. They’re doing it for the first time, and this thing is going to be on national TV.”
Fame regrets?
Kris Jenner has mixed feelings about launching her family’s fame all those years ago. That’s according to her daughter, Kim Kardashian, who says in the latest episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians” that Kris struggles with having rocketed the Kardashian-Jenner krewe to stardom with their reality shows and more. The revelation comes after Scott Disick asks Kim what she feels wistful about life prior to their celebrity status. “I wonder what life would be like now if we didn’t take that road or take that journey,” Kim says, per People. “I know something that is hard for my mom, she’s been really sad, like, ‘What did I do?’ Did I create them to get to this level …?” Scott tries to reassure Kim, saying “No one’s easily happy,” but Kim counters that her mom “thinks it’s all [connected],” seemingly referring to both their lives on TV and the the celebrity-focused ventures they’ve each started separately. “I get it, everyone kind of has something great and something bad,” Scott says. Kim then tells Scott, “And I can handle it all, even the bad stuff, I can handle it,” which in turn inspires Scott to ask if Kim has ever felt depressed. “What’s so crazy is when my dad died, I remember automatically being like, ‘Okay, I’m going to speak at the funeral. This is happening,” Kim says in the clip. “‘My dad left us and now we finally have to grow up, we have to figure it out.'”
