No quick fix
Sharon Osbourne is opening up about what really happened after she used semaglutide, an anti-diabetes and obesity medication sold under brand names including Ozempic and Wegovy. Though the drug’s popularity has surged because of its weight loss effects, Sharon warned on the Friday (May 5) edition of “The Talk” that it made her extremely ill. Sharon’s colleague on the show, Daisy McAndrew, pointed out that shedding pounds requires more a serious lifestyle change than simply exercising more and eating less. “It doesn’t work like that for a lot of people’s metabolism,” Daisy explained, according to Express.
“It doesn’t. It is a mental problem,” Sharon replied. “It really is, apart from, you know, when children grow up in a household where they live off chips and pies. But I took it. I took it for four months and I lost 30 pounds, but like everything, there’s always no quick recipe. I was very sick for a couple of months. The first couple of months, I just felt nauseous,” she continued. “Every day I felt nauseous, my stomach was upset, whatever. But listen, I took it for four months, I lost 30 pounds. I’ve just shoved two chips in my mouth, while we had the break, and I eat normally now, and I haven’t put on a pound. Nothing.” Ozempic and drugs like it work by reducing hunger, food cravings and body fat. In addition to nausea, side effects can include a range of digestive problems, including vomiting, as well as abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, indigestion/heartburn, dizziness, bloating and more. The U.K. recently announced it was putting the launch of Wegovy on hold.

Alec Baldwin admits he ‘forgot’ daughter Ireland in tribute to kids on Instagram
Woops. Father of eight, Alec Baldwin, praised his children in an Instagram tribute on Thursday (May 4) — but he left one out. “Seven reasons to carry on during some tough times. I’m not gonna lie, without my family, I don’t know what my life would be,” Alec captioned a gallery of his seven youngest kids, all of whom he shares with wife Hilaria Baldwin. His mistake prompted a flurry of not-so-positive comments.
“Don’t you have 8 children?” asked an one Instagram user asked. “I’m sure your oldest is happy you left her out🙄,” wrote another. The actor, who was recently cleared of involuntary manslaughter charges following a fatal shooting on the set of “Rust,” soon hopped back on Instagram to honor Ireland in a separate post. “We forgot Billy Preston!” Alec captioned a black and white close-up of his daughter, who’s currently expecting her first child with partner RAC. “This one, the first one, is about to make me a grandfather. Oy.” Alec shares Ireland, 27, with ex Kim Basinger. He and Hilaria are parents to Carmen, 9, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 6, Romeo, 4, Eduardo, 2, Lucia, 2, and Ilaria, 7 months.
The “Billy Preston” reference dates back to the Beatles’ 1971 Concert for Bangladesh on which Billy plays keyboards but was initially left out of the band’s intro, sparking George Harrison to stop the show and yell, “We’ve forgotten Billy Preston!”

Drew Barrymore steps down as host of MTV Movie & TV awards amid writers strike
With just three days until showtime, Drew Barrymore announced she’s stepping down as host of the 2023 MTV Movie & TV awards, set to air on Sunday (May 7). Her move is a show of support for members of the Writers Guild of America, a screenwriters’ union that went on strike on Tuesday. “I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike,” the daytime star said in a statement, according to People. “Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of [writers’] creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home and hope you will join me.”
On Thursday, Variety reported the awards show’s programming is “still evolving day by day,” with more celebs expected to skip the event in solidarity with the union and their demands for higher wages and better job security. Bruce Gillmer, the show’s executive producer, told the outlet, “we will essentially be going hostless,” adding that his team is looking at the change as “a shift in direction” and will welcome Drew back as host in 2024.
Drew also confirmed she expects to host the awards next year, when, as she put it, she “can truly celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive.”

Christina Applegate shares devastating new details about life with MS
Christina Applegate no longer takes the same things for granted that she used to. In a May 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, the “Dead To Me” star shared candid new details about the devastating ways multiple sclerosis affects her daily life, from making showers dangerous and sounds seem louder to changing the way she looks. “With the disease of MS, it’s never a good day. You just have little s***** days,” she says. “People are like, ‘Well, why don’t you take more showers?’ Well, because getting in the shower is frightening. You can fall, you can slip, your legs can buckle. Especially because I have a glass shower. It’s frightening to me to get in there. There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted. Going down the stairs, carrying things — you can’t do that anymore. It f****** sucks. I can still drive my car short distances. I can bring up food to my kid. Up, never down.”
Christina, 51, went public with her MS diagnosis in 2021, and while she was able to make it through shooting Season 3 of her hit show, she admits each day on set was a “struggle.” Now, she has a few helpers, but can’t be exposed to many people because she’s immunocompromised. “I also don’t want a lot of stimulation of the nervous system because it can be a little bit too much for me. I like to keep it as quiet and as mellow as possible,” she says. “It’s exhausting. Imagine just being in a crowd of people and how loud that is. It’s like 5,000 times louder for anyone who has lesions on their brains.”
The “Married With Children” alum has yet to watch the final season of “Dead To Me,” though she says it will likely be her last on-camera work. “I will [watch it],” she says. “It’s just that sometimes I get cringey about the way I look. It’s so hard to look at myself as this other person and I don’t look like myself anymore, obviously. And it’s really, really hard for me because so much of my life was my image and then I see this person and I’m like, Who is this person with 20 chins? To be really brutally honest, that’s kind of what’s really hard about it for me to watch.”
Amber Heard has reportedly traded Hollywood for Spain
Nearly one year after her high-profile defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard is allegedly taking a break from the big screen and living in Spain with her 2-year-old. According to Daily Mail reporter Alison Boshoff, the actress “has quit Hollywood and quietly relocated to Spain with her young daughter Oonagh.” The report quotes a purported friend of Amber’s as saying the star is “bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise.” Amber’s been photographed in Spain a number of times since she sold her home in Yucca Valley, Calif., in July 2022 for $1.1 million, according to the outlet. In October, she was spotted on a beach getaway in Palma de Mallorca and, a few days later, at a children’s park with Oonagh. “I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood,” said the pal, “but she will probably come back when the time is right, for the right project.” Amber lost her court battle against her famous ex in June 2022, with a jury ordering her to pay Johnny millions in damages for defaming him with a 2018 op-ed piece she wrote about surviving domestic abuse for the Washington Post. She has since requested a retrial.
Sherri Shepherd axes two of Wendy Williams’ top producers
Sherri Shepherd has reportedly axed two vestiges of “The Wendy Williams Show” from “Sherri,” the daytime talk show she took over and renamed after Wendy’s health issues left her unable to return to the air. According to Page Six, Sherri had been working with two veteran executive producers from Wendy’s show, David Perler and Suzanne Bass, but let them go this week ahead of the end of her first season. Sources say Sherri was looking for “fresh energy” for Season 2 but needed David’s assistance “to help get through the hump of launching a new show,” according to one source. Though Suzanne “was on camera for a decade with Wendy,” according to an insider, she wasn’t essential for Sherri. The host currently has her pal Jawn Murray on board as producer.
A rep for Debmar-Mercury, which began producing “Sherri” once the new show took over for Wendy’s program, told Page Six, “we will announce a new executive producer for the second season to serve alongside [Jawn Murray].”
