Lisa Marie Presley, who died at 54 on Jan. 12, 2023, was laid to rest at Graceland following a Celebration of Life ceremony at the Presley family compound in Memphis, Tennessee — which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2006 — on Jan. 22.
But just weeks later, the grieving family made headlines as it emerged that a legal battle had erupted between Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla Presley, and eldest child, Riley Keough, over the late star’s estate: Priscilla challenged an amendment to Lisa Marie’s multimillion-dollar trust — which reportedly includes Graceland plus a stake in the lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises — that eliminated her as a trustee and left Riley as its sole trustee. Things got bad amid reports Riley and Priscilla were no longer speaking, and in March 2023, Radar Online reported that Riley had changed the locks on the upstairs doors and archives at Graceland so Priscilla couldn’t get in — a claim Graceland later denied.
After months of fighting and heartache, Priscilla and Riley finally resolved their issues: TMZ reported on May 16 that Lisa Marie’s estate had paid an undisclosed sum — which its sources said was in the millions — to Priscilla to settle the dispute. “The families are happy. Everybody is happy and excited for the future,” Priscilla’s attorney announced after the court hearing.
