Podcastle, an AI-powered content creation platform, has raised $13.5 million in a Series A funding round to expand its suite of audio and video production tools. The round was led by Mosaic Ventures, with participation from existing investors including RTP Global, Point Nine Capital, Sierra Ventures, and Andrew Ng’s AI Fund.
The company plans to use the new capital to “supercharge the development of essential AI tools that radically simplify the creative workflow for individuals and teams,” says Arto Yeritsyan, Podcastle’s founder and CEO. He adds that the funding will also help Podcastle “expand[ing] our offering to make multimedia storytelling easier and more scalable.”
Launched initially as a browser extension, Podcastle has grown into a full platform that aims to streamline audio and video creation and distribution. The company says its user base has climbed from 150,000 at the time of its 2021 seed funding to over one million currently.
With long-form audio and video content becoming increasingly critical for marketing, communications, education, and media, Podcastle seeks to position itself as the “collaborative workflow product of choice” for solo creators as well as businesses, according to Yeritsyan.
Simon Levene, co-founder and partner at lead investor Mosaic Ventures, says the firm has “a 20-year history investing in the creator economy” and sees “long term secular growth” ahead in the space. “We believe that Podcastle will succeed in their bold mission to become the one-stop shop for creators to collaborate and make great audio & video content,” Levene states.
The company has also made some recent leadership hires aimed at accelerating commercial growth. Additions include Allan Rechtman, formerly a VP at design platform Canva, as Chief Commercial Officer, and Damian Sacco, who led growth teams at presentation software company Prezi, as VP of Growth Marketing.
Podcastle has been actively enhancing its platform with new AI capabilities. Last year, it launched Revoice, a tool that clones voices using generative AI. It also debuted Magic Dust, which uses AI to improve audio quality.
Yeritsyan highlights his view of the bigger picture opportunity: “This investment is a vote of confidence in our vision of a world where world-class multimedia content creation is accessible for anyone and everyone.”
The funding news comes as demand for multimedia content continues to climb across marketing, entertainment, communications, and education. Podcastle aims to make professional quality audio and video production dramatically more efficient. If it succeeds, the platform may further blur the lines between professional creators and amateur hobbyists.
