On May 5, English actor-comedian and former Monty Python comedy group member Michael Palin — who’s also beloved for his travel documentaries — turns the big 8-0. It’s a bittersweet birthday, as just three days earlier, Michael lost his wife of 57 years, Helen, whom he called “the bedrock of my life.”

“Starsky & Hutch” actor Paul Michael Glaser turned 80 on March 25. He lost wife Elizabeth Glaser in 1994 and daughter Ariel in 1988 to AIDS after Elizabeth was unknowingly infected with HIV during a blood transfusion. Paul and Elizabeth’s son, Jake — who’s living with HIV he contracted from his mother in utero — is now a healthy adult who’s carrying on her legacy through the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
