Liev Schreiber was in a fog — literally — on the way to the Hamptons over the weekend, we hear.
Sources say the actor is filming at a “top-secret coastal location” right now.
But he took a private jet out to Donna Karan’s storied spread way out East when the designer hosted a screening of his new Anne Frank series, “A Small Light.”
We’re told the plane was supposed to touch down in Montauk, but thick fog rolled in off the sea over the far East End.
So we’re told it was rerouted, and had to land in nearby Southampton instead.
The actor went via road the rest of the way.
After the screening we’re told Schreiber was swarmed by attendees at the swank ocean-front compound, including Christie Brinkley, Jennifer Esposito, James Badge Dale, Ralph Macchio, Mercedes Ruehl, artist Ross Bleckner, Derek Blasberg and Jane Buffett.
The National Geographic limited series tells the story of Miep Gies, a Dutch woman who risked her life to shelter Anne Frank and her extended Jewish family. Gies was an employee of Otto’s who immediately offered to help the family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
Schreiber told Salon that it was Gies immediate, unflinching willingness to help the Franks that connected him to the story. “It’s so instant and so human to say yes to each other,” he said, “That kindness and compassion can be such a big part of our character, and it, I believe, intuitive and natural for us to care about each other.”
In “A Small Light,” Schreiber plays Frank’s father, Otto Frank.
A rep for Schreiber didn’t respond to our request for comment.
