WRITING JOURNAL PROMPT: Write about a day during your holiday vacation. Use descriptive imagery. What did you see, hear, smell, taste, touch?
INCLUDE: simile, metaphor, alliteration, personification, and hyperbole
Twas the night before Christmas when a noise woke me up. Santa?!? I couldn’t believe it! I tip-toed downstairs… And there he was. Santa Claus. Only his mouth wasn’t full of cookies. It was full of Mommy’s tongue. I stood there, frozen like a traumatized icicle.
My face got real hot and I gasped. Mommy and Santa must’ve heard because they stopped tongue-slugging, but I didn’t wait around to find out. I ran back to my room as fast as a cheetah on illegal athlete drugs.
Mommy woke me like she always does on Christmas: with a cup of hot cocoa and a twinkle in her eye. It was disgusting. She tickled me with her ugly lying fingers and sang, “Santa came last night!” She practically spat in my mouth. I began to wonder if I even knew this woman named Mom.
The presents under the tree made me sick. To think… we welcomed this man into our home. I could barely look at Dad. He is a sweet, innocent, tragic marshmallow. I glared at Mommy, waiting. She smiled at me, also waiting.
I opened my presents and declared that I hated them all, because I did. Even the most stunning: a Cake & Bake Girly Pop Cake Pop Maker. It was ruined. All thanks to Santa’s wet pink slimy worm tongue.
I couldn’t live like this. Mommy may enjoy weaving a web of sticky lies, but I hate spiders. I ripped my wrapping paper into shredded mozzarella cheese. While Mommy cleaned the mess, I pulled Dad close and whispered worried words into his giant hairy ears: “Mommy french kissed Santa.” He looked at me funny, then laughed. My blood boiled big bubbles. This wasn’t a joke! I saw it with my own two spherical eyeballs!
“What’s going on?” I turned around and there she was, the sex monster herself. Dad explained what I had just told him because he is a love blind wuss-pants. She laughed. I screamed. They both told me to calm down.
