Grilled peaches are one of summer’s greatest joys. When peaches are in season, I love kicking back on my patio with friends and taking a bite of juicy grilled peaches with chilled vanilla ice cream on top. Now that’s pure summertime bliss.
So if you’re already a peach lover, make sure you try them grilled! Grilling the peaches enhances them in every way, making them extra sweet and juicy, with a smoky charred aroma (like this grilled watermelon). You can then add them to salads, turn them into bite-sized appetizers, and of course, serve them up as dessert.
Grilled Peaches Ingredients
- Peaches: I’m using yellow peaches for this recipe, but read the next section for further suggestions. Either way, you want to make sure they are ripe but firm. This will ensure your peaches don’t become overly soft from the heat, especially if you add sugars to caramelize them.
- Flavoring: A simple brush of butter and a sprinkle of coconut sugar is my go-to seasoning. Spices also pair well with sweet peaches, so feel free to add a sprinkle of ground cardamom, cinnamon, or even clove.

Best Peaches For Grilling
Fun fact — all types of peaches are either freestone or clingstone peaches. Freestone peaches are firm, generally sweet, and have a pit that’s easily removable. Clingstone peaches are much softer and sweeter, but with a flesh that clings onto the pit, making it harder to remove.
The good news is that freestone peaches are ones you’ll typically come across at your local market, whether they’re yellow, white, donut, or nectarine peaches. Just look for ripe yet firm ones that have a sweet scent to them. The sweeter the smell, the better the results!
How To Grill Peaches
Slice the peaches. If using an outdoor grill, slice the peaches in half lengthwise to prevent falling through the grates. If using an indoor grill pan, you can slice the peaches into halves or quarters.
Brush seasoning. Brush the open side of the peaches with butter (or olive oil) and sprinkle with coconut sugar. Side note, you don’t need to go overboard on the coconut sugar as the peach will also naturally caramelize as it cooks.
Grill peaches. Each peach slice will need about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. You’ll know the peaches are done grilling when they have a solid set of grill marks, are slightly soft, and the open edges are caramelized.
Storing Cooked Peaches
These peaches are super tasty straight from the grill. But you can also store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. Enjoy them chilled straight from the fridge or reheat them in the oven at 350°F for about 5 to 10 minutes or until warmed.
Ways To Serve Grilled Peaches
- Make a grilled peach salad. You can toss them into any summer salad. But the dreamiest pairing is with arugula, burrata or ricotta, pine nuts, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette – as I’ve done in this grilled peach and burrata salad.
- Grilled peaches with ice cream. Scoops of vanilla ice cream on top are non-negotiable. It’s a match made in heaven! Alternatively, you can use Greek yogurt or coconut whipped cream.
- Make a grilled peach appetizer. I love to make Caprese bites (like these Caprese skewers) with layers of sliced peaches, mozzarella, basil leaves, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. And when I have prosciutto, I’ll wrap each slice around the peach quarters with the balsamic glaze. Both ideas will have your guests swooning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need to peel the skin off peaches before grilling?
There’s no need to remove the skin of peaches before grilling! The skin also helps keep the fruit intact as it cooks and softens on the grill.
Can you grill peaches that aren’t ripe yet?
Although grilling peaches helps to caramelize them, it’s best to use ripe peaches for the best results. Helpful tip: If your peaches aren’t ripe yet, leave them on the countertop for a few days or store them in the fridge to slow down the ripening process (if you want to store them longer). If they’re ripe, store them in the fridge immediately until you’re ready to grill.

- If you don’t have coconut sugar, you can swap it with any granulated sugar. But I just love how coconut sugar adds more of a caramel depth of flavor!
