Speaking out

Johnnie Faye Cartwright, the fiancé of jailed “Home Improvement” star Zachery Ty Bryan, is breaking her silence in regard to his newest arrest. “I’ll always want what’s best for the father of my children,” she told Us Weekly. Last week, the child actor, who shares three children with Johnnie, was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor for domestic violence. Although Johnnie wasn’t identified as the victim in the most recent case, she seemed to hint at it. “Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways,” she said. “I’ve learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there. I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin.” Back in 2020, Zach was arrested for felony strangulation after an incident with Johnnie. The one-time actor, who was married at the time but having an affair with Johnnie, told Hollywood Reporter she was upset about his “double life.” Zach ultimately pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault and said the whole thing was “blown out of proportion.” In addition to the three kids he shares with Johnnie, Zach has four other children from his previous marriage.

Why they headed west

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union revealed that they moved from Florida to California in 2020 so their 16-year-old trans daughter, Zaya, could feel “safe.” “There are a lot of reasons we decided California would be best for our family and finding a community for Zaya was a big part of that,” the NBA great told Parents magazine. “We felt that California was a place that would allow her to blossom and grow. She’s going to be a junior in high school now and she’s been able to be accepted and become her here.” Florida has been somewhat on the forefront of signing laws into place that limit gender-affirming care. The “Bring It On” actress said, “When you have the kind of rhetoric that is being espoused in Florida and adopted into law, that’s not an option if my child isn’t safe there. We have family and friends who don’t have the privilege of moving. So we are going to be fighting till we are out of breath to protect all kids who are oppressed. That is our responsibility as people with large platforms and as people who folks trust, and they trust us because we say the hard thing.”

Truth hurts?

Lizzo has suddenly found herself embroiled in a lawsuit brought on by three of her former backups dancers, and the details are salacious. The women claim they were weight shamed and demeaned in illegal ways. They also alleged to have faced sexual, religious and racial harassment and were subject to false imprisonment. In one instance listed in the lawsuit, the dancers claimed they reluctantly visited Amsterdam’s infamous Red Light District out of fear of losing their jobs. “The main event of the night was a club called Bananenbar, where patrons are allowed to interact with completely nude performers. While at Bananenbar, things quickly got out of hand,” the lawsuit claims. “Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching [sex toys] launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.” The women claim they were tricked into going to a nude bar in Paris a week later. After the lawsuit came to light, one dancer not affiliated with the lawsuit came forward to support the women. “This was very much my experience in my time there,” she wrote. “Big shoutout to the dancers who had the courage to bring this to light.” In addition, a filmmaker who worked with Grammy winner on a 2019 documentary said she also had a bad experience with the musician. “I was treated with such disrespect by her. I witnessed how arrogant, self-centered, and unkind she is,” Sophia Nahli Allison said on Instagram. “My spirit said to run as fast as you f****** can and I’m so grateful I trusted my gut. I felt gas lit and was deeply hurt, but I’ve healed. Reading these reports made me realize how dangerous of a situation it was. This kind of abuse of power happens far too often. Much love and support to the dancers.” The dancers are asking the courts for damages including unpaid wages, loss of earnings, deferred compensation, employment benefit, emotional distress, medical expenses and attorneys’ fees.

Family love

Having officially returned to society following his mysterious medical complication, Jamie Foxx is thanking his sister for saving his life. In an Instagram birthday message to honor Deidra Dixon, Jamie penned, “You are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses.” The Oscar winner added, “And without you I would not be here… had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life…. I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis.” Jamie was hospitalized in April but little is still known as to why. However, over the past few weeks, he has been spotted out and about and looking well. He even participated in an ad campaign in Las Vegas.

Weight loss pill

In a desperate attempt to shed unwanted pounds, Sharon Osbourne turned to controversial weight loss drug Ozempic. “You have a weight problem and you’ve tried everything, and then somebody says take this injection and you’re going to be skinny,” she said on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast. The former reality TV star admitted that weight loss medicine is a game of “always playing the odds.” While taking the drug, the former “The Talk” panelist had no appetite. Although she no longer takes the pill, she still doesn’t find herself hungry. “For me, the first few weeks was f****** s*** because you just throw up all the time. You feel so nauseous,” she shared. Sharon felt that way for a few weeks, but then she felt “fine.” “I’ve been off it for a while now. Your stomach shrinks,” she said. Earlier this year, Sharon spoke about taking a weight loss drug, but she’d never revealed which one until now.

Over it

Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro had a very up-and-down relationship through six seasons on “Jersey Shore,” but any romantic feelings she had toward him have very much dissipated. “At this point, he’s just a guy I dated in my 20’s. We all go through relationships. He’s basically just a co-worker at this point,” she told Variety. Sammi, 36, has largely kept her MTV castmates at an arm’s length and didn’t join the show’s “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” revival in 2018. “I missed filming all those years. Why not come back and try it again, give it a shot, and see if I like it,” she said. Sammi also denied having issues with the reality TV cast, a rumor that was often grouped with her name. “I didn’t have any bad blood with anybody through the years, I was just living my own life,” she explained. Up until she and Ronnie reunited on the show, she said the two had “no relationship whatsoever.”
