At Cayo Levantado Resort, Dominican local culture is one of the three pillars, present in every corner and in every facility. Throughout the property, guests will be immersed through decoration, architecture, interior design, gastronomy, and entertainment. To make this come to life, the hotel has sourced local talent from the Dominican Republic to showcase the authentic heart of Samaná, while contributing to the development and employment in the region.
The resort has brought in a group of Dominican designers, interior designers, and architects, whose artistic passion will be reflected throughout the entire hotel. The concept of the culture reform is led by architect Ramón Emilio Jiménez and his studio, Arquimilio.
Rooms at the resort will be influenced with motifs of the island, mostly references to the sea and local flora. Tables will be made of larimar stone, the typical stone of the Dominican Republic, as well as horn, coasters and trays made of guayacan, coconuts to fill with scrub and body milk, all made by Dominican artisans in their own workshops, with techniques typical of the country.
At Senda, the hotel’s Dominican restaurant, there will a mural and decorated spaces based on the book of the Dominican poet Pedro Mir, “There is a country in the world”, which describes the Dominican geography.
The resort store will also feature artwork by local artist, Nini Carela, who paints motifs of Samaná.
An invitation to embrace the local lifestyle awaits every visitor to Cayo Levantado Resort. By embracing the very heartbeat of island life – its lively music, vivacious dance, spirited cuisine, and most importantly its vibrant local people – Cayo Levantado Resort celebrates the cultural rhythm so inherent to the island traditions.
