Whether you’re looking to dress up a stack of blueberry pancakes or simply craving berries on your dessert plate, this caramelized topping is sure to put a smile on your face after the first bite!
You’re going to want to cook this immediately before serving as you will want to preserve the gooeyness that comes with adding it fresh out of the pan!
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
Instructions
- Set your burner to low and warm the pan briefly.
- Mix brown sugar into maple syrup before adding blueberries. Dump them into the pan.
- Use your spatula to keep the mixture concentrated in the center of your pan rather than letting it thin out. This will prevent it from making such a big mess and the thinner it is, the easier it can burn!
- Turn off the heat and add to pancakes when small air bubbles start to form in the maple syrup mixture.
Use extreme precaution as the sugar mixture will get very hot and retain heat for a long time after the burner has been turned off. Don’t worry if you’re enjoying this on a fresh stack of pancakes, they won’t get cold before the blueberries.
