While the search for missing German tourist Nick Frischke continues, an American woman has disappeared.
A 38-year-old woman, Julie Goodness, was last seen in the city bowl suburb of Higgovale yesterday and has been reported missing to the police.
The Caucasian American woman is approximately 1.6m tall, weighing about 50kg, with dark brown hair and blue/grey eyes and has an American accent. Her hair goes down to mid-back length and is usually worn in a ponytail.
She was last seen at approximately 07:45 am on Bellevue Street on Monday, 24 April, wearing purple/pink long-sleeve sports top, blue jeans and colourful sneakers with pinkish soles, and a big black oversized puffer jacket. She was carrying a canvas tote bag in a cream/off-white colour.
Goodness is a regular trail runner, so she may be on the mountain somewhere.
The matter has been reported to Cape Town Central SAPS.
If seen, please contact Warrant Officer Toua on 061 441 0530.
Goodness’s disappearance is the second recent incident where a foreign national has gone missing, resulting in a search by police and the public.
Last week, the family of Nick Frischke, a German tourist who has been reported missing, offered a reward of R20 000 to anyone who could provide information regarding his whereabouts.
Frischke, who was on holiday in Cape Town, was last spotted leaving his bed and breakfast located in Pinelands on 14 February. The 22-year-old vanished after allegedly being robbed on a hiking trail in Cape Town.
The City of Cape Town has made strong tourism inroads after taking a knock during the Covid pandemic and even though missing tourists are a serious concern, it remains a rare occurrence.
