Forever a home for the arts and artists, Volga Hotel (Volga) opens its doors to the public this June 7th with its soft launch in advance of the Official Launch Weekend, June 15-17th. Trendsetters, culture enthusiasts, gastronomy/mixology aficionados and bespoke adventurers will find themselves at home as they experience Volga, an architectural marvel in the heart of Mexico City’s Cuauhtemoc Neighborhood.
Just one block from Reforma Ave and 2 blocks from the famed “Angel of Independence” statue, and moments walk from the expat hotspots of Roma and Condessa, — Volga’s central location and valet option are perfect for travelers and locals alike.
Volga, a 49 room luxury boutique hotel, invites guests to immerse themselves and experience art without limits, visuals that transcend and sounds that captivate, — all through a world-class curation of pre-programmed activities and unannounced, site-specific “happenings” or artistic vignettes, sure to entertain and inspire both local and international crowds.
Volga is an invitation to the senses — an immersive and yet intimate environment, whose dramatic atrium is illuminated by natural light and is circled by an iconic, iron screen system, where guests can opt for a discreet or interactive experience with the other guests. Volga also boasts a partnership House of Kirschner led by famed event producer Mauricio Kirschner to support Hamak in designing the guest experience.
Guests can enjoy dinner from famed chef, Edo Kobayashi with his daring departure into Mediterranean cuisine, Elora, or they can lounge poolside on the rooftop, enjoying small bites and the best in ethnobotanical mixology, with a 360 view of CDMX — through architect, JSa’s, “Windows to the City”.
The entire experience design of Volga echoes the original intentions of the architects Javier Sanchez and Aisha Ballesteros (JSa Architecture) from over 5 years ago. A study in contrast, the building is a contemporary minimalist approach with a hulking, brutalist exterior yielding to an open and vulnerable central exposed core, which acts as an experiential blank canvas, allowing guests to decide how participatory or secluded they spend their time within Volga. All guests will have the opportunity to interact with the art of globally renowned Perla Krauze and her large scale lava, stone, brass and travertine artwork, — as it is center stage, as the floor beneath the grand atrium.
While JSa’s minimal, elegant and raw interiors invite a grounded and restful stay, the theatrical, central design of the architecture welcomes guests’ immersion into the wider Volga experience happening across the time and space of their stay. The interiors boast turkish marble distinct to the classes of suites along with a soothing scent collaboration with Aromaria for a Volga line of bathroom products.
Volga also has in-room spa experiences, and a custom bathroom line with custom developed scents through a partnership with Aromaria, a concept store curated by Alida Rodriguez and Sally Galante, a pop up/exhibition spaceand a garden along with a forthcoming Mezcaleria, Omakase restaurant, and a subterranean Speakeasy coming online later this year.
