If you’ve been searching for a digital nomad destination combined with beach living during the day and trance parties at night, then look no further than India’s province of Goa.
The state of Goa is doubling down on efforts to attract digital nomads, pushing for the country to make remote working easier for travellers.
Goa’s minister of Tourism, Rohan Khaunte, launched his “workation Goa” in July of last year. Since then, the state has been introducing coworking spaces in the beachside towns of Ashvem, Morjim and Benaulim.

‘We are trying to conceptualise a new visa which we have taken up with the central government,’ Khaunte told reporters at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai last week.
‘We are pretty sure that in days to come we are going to be the first state in the country to invite digital nomads.’
As Goa continues to invest in infrastructure to attract digital nomads and the state has introduced a homestay policy to help residents earn extra money by giving tourists a glimpse of local culture, the introduction of a remote working visa lies with the Indian national government.
‘We are trying to conceptualise a new visa, which we have taken up with the central government,’ said Khaunte, according to Travel News. ‘We are pretty sure that in days to come we are going to be the first state in the country to invite digital nomads.’
Goa is poised itself to become an attractive remote working destination, thanks to its low cost of living, high quality of life along its beach and the predominance of English speaking.
Goa has also been an attractive destination for “rave” tourism, considered to be the origin of trance music.
