‘Is this your mom?’
They say we all grieve in different ways, but some of those “different ways” rank a bit higher on the Richter scale than others. At London’s Hyde Park on Sunday, June 25, Pink stopped singing mid-show when a concertgoer threw a baggie full of light-colored powder onstage. It was apparently the cremated remains of the person’s mother. Video footage on social media shows Pink crouching down on the floor by the baggie. Looking bewildered, she picked it up, barely holding one corner, and asked the person in the crowd, “Is this your mom?” It’s unclear from the footage why the singer was clued in about the specific contents of the bag, but she seemed to be told that it was, indeed, the person’s mom’s ashes. Walking slowly toward the edge of the stage, Pink then bent down again and put the baggie behind a speaker. “I don’t know how I feel about this,” she said into the mic before catching back up to the song’s lyrics –and moving toward the other side of the stage.
The ashes incident comes after Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a phone onstage and hospitalized for her injuries earlier this month. In 2022, a fan chucked a chicken nugget at Harry Styles during his show at Madison Square Garden, according to USA Today. At the time, Harry stopped the show to ask “who threw the chicken nugget?” Getting no reply, he tossed it back into the crowd, telling the perpetrator, “Sorry … I don’t eat meat.”

Now that she has four young kids of her own, Kim Kardashian admires her mom, Kris Jenner, more than ever for successfully raising six kids. Kim also now knows her mom had at least one secret weapon for combatting the stress — a cold liquid one. “I feel so lucky and blessed to have help, but no matter how much help you have, your babies want their mommy, you have to be the one to solve every problem and act like you have it all together,” Kim told Vogue Italia in an interview published Monday, June 27. The cracks in Kris’ “together” veneer were visible sometimes, like when she’d get “mad” at one of her five daughters, all of whose names start with “K.” “She would scream at me and be like, ‘Kourtney, Kylie, really, whatever your name is, get over here!'” Kim recalled. Still, the SKIMS founder said she now has “so much respect for parents” and “can’t believe what my mom went through” to raise them all. “I constantly ask her, ‘How did you do it? Six kids, six big personalities. We’re all so different, how did you really handle it?'” Kim shared. Kris’ response? “She is just like, ‘Why do you think I had my vodka at 5:00 o’clock every day?'”
While Kris liked to unwind from the pressures of parenthood with a little cocktail, Kim said her “perfect day of relaxation would just be to lay in bed and watch TV.” Kim shares daughters North, 10, and Chicago, 5, and sons Saint, 7, and Psalm, 4, with her ex-husband, Kanye West. She filed for divorce in 2021 and the two now share joint custody.

Airport irritation
Tough crowd. Alec Baldwin used Instagram to vent about a super-long flight delay on Monday, June 27, but he didn’t get much sympathy in the comments. “[Six] and 1/2 hours on a plane, sitting at the gate, waiting to fly NEWARK to VANCOUVER. No end in sight #HowWillGlobalWarmingEffectAirTravel,” Alec shared in one post as Monday’s “heat dome” caused spiking temperatures across the United States and storms battered the Northeast, canceling more than 1600 flights, according to CNN. “Why are US airlines so s*****?” he asked in a second post. “Sitting here for 7 and 1/2 hours.” While some Instagram users commiserated in their replies — “it should not be legal to make people sit on a plane,” one person griped — others pointed out that it could be worse. “Imagine how the folks feel in economy,” one person noted. “Fly private. You got the loot. Cry me a river,” scoffed another. “Lifestyle of the rich and the famous. Always complaining! Always complaining!,” someone else replied. Eventually, another user remembered Alec’s now infamous 2011 ejection from a plane after he was told to put his phone away and refused because he was in the middle of a game. “Whatever you do,” wrote the commenter, “DON’T start playing Words With Friends!!!” Sage advice, indeed.

Accusers get trial green-light
Wade Robson and James Safechuck — who alleged in the 2019 movie, “Finding Neverland” Michael Jackson molested them when they were young — may finally be able to take their claims about the late star to trial, the Los Angeles Times reports. In 2013 and 2014, the plaintiffs separately sued MJJ Productions Inc. and MJJ Ventures Inc. the late music star’s corporations, on grounds staffers knew about the abuse, protected Michael in spite of it and allegedly helped Michael cover it up. According to a California Court of Appeal’s tentative ruling on Monday, June 26, Wade’s and James’ lawsuits can go to trial. The men initially saw their suits dismissed after a judge sided with the estate’s lawyers, who argued employees weren’t legally responsible to protect Wade and James because they didn’t own the company. The three-judge panel presiding over the appeals process determined otherwise. According to the Times, it seems the cases could also be combined into one. The King of Pop died on June 25, 2009, at 50.
Breaking for health
After an emotional performance that saw the Glastonbury Festival crowd singing Lewis Capaldi’s songs when he seemingly lost his voice onstage over the weekend, the singer announced he’s taking a break from touring for health reasons. “First of all, thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards,” Lewis, 26, wrote in a statement on Instagram on Tuesday, June 27. He went on to say he’s “going to take a break from touring or the foreseeable future” in order to get a handle on his Tourrette’s syndrome diagnosis.
“I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped three weeks away would sort me out,” he continued. “But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend so much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time.” The singer closed by explaining, “I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve. Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”
In the wake of his hit debut and sophomore albums, Lewis released the 2023 documentary, “How I’m Feeling Now,” which detailed his health battles and how they’ve impacted his songwriting process.
The next Pat Sajak
“Wheel! … Of! … Seacrest?” Yep, Ryan Seacrest has been named Pat Sajak’s successor on the long-running game show “Wheel of Fortune,” Ryan confirmed via social media on Tuesday, June 27. “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” the “American Idol” host said in a statement. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna [White] on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them,” he continued. “Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”
Ryan added that the new gig is “a full circle moment” because one of his “first jobs was hosting a little game show called ‘Click’ for Merv Griffin 25 years ago.” Thanking Sony for the chance to take over in 2024, Ryan said, “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.” Pat Sajak, who’s hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since December 1981, announced his retirement plans earlier this month.
