From her headline-making marriage to Elvis Presley to her days as a Hollywood actress, Priscilla Presley has been in the spotlight for decades. And on June 21, 2023, she made headlines again as director Sofia Coppola and A24 released the trailer for “Priscilla” — her movie starring Jacob Elordi as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Cailee Spaeny as his bride. The film, which is based on Priscilla’s bestselling 1985 memoir, “Elvis and Me,” is due in theaters in October 2023.
Following the release of the first trailer, TMZ reported that officials connected to Elvis’s estate criticized the project — one called it “horrible,” adding that it “feels like a college movie. The set designs are just horrific, it’s not what Graceland looks like” — and claimed it was produced without the estate’s knowledge or consent. But Priscilla feels differently, telling TMZ, “I am very excited to see the interpretation of my book by the masterful Sofia Coppola. She has such an extraordinary perspective and I have always been such an admirer of her work. I’m certain this movie will take everyone on an emotional journey.”
