Why Carrie’s wedding dress rewear on ‘And Just Like That’ was ‘complicated’ – Jarastyle Teen’s

And just like that, Carrie Bradshaw’s infamous wedding dress is back.

In November, Sarah Jessica Parker was photographed filming “And Just Like That” in her “Sex and the City” character’s unforgettable Vivienne Westwood bridal gown — and the design finally made its triumphant return on the Season 2 premiere of the Max show Thursday.

Upon seeing the original snaps from the set, fans wondered if Carrie was getting married again; after all, her former flame Aidan Shaw returns this season.

But as it turns out, the show’s protagonist hauls out the gown for the Met Gala instead, shopping her own cavernous closet for a party look after the dress she’s meant to wear can’t be tailored in time.

Carrie wasn’t the only one having costuming problems; Parker, 58, told People the show’s producers “weren’t entirely certain that we could get the dress back” for the shoot.

For more Page Six Style …

“It was in London and unearthing it was complicated — getting it through customs in time and then making sure was this, in fact, the original dress? The color looked different,” she said.

And since Carrie first wore the gown for her failed nuptials with Mr. Big, Parker added, she and the team were intent on changing the narrative surrounding the style.

While she kept the polarizing blue bird headpiece from the 2008 flick, Carrie styled it with a new teal-colored cape, gloves and pumps this time around.

“How would it become something else?” Parker asked. “How would we layer it and give it a new life and have it feel modern and change the poetry that surrounded that dress from a lot of really painful but important memories that I don’t think Carrie really wanted to let go of, especially given this loss?

The “Sex and the City” star also wasn’t sure she’d still fit in the frock more than a decade later, and called it “terrifying to put it on.”

Thankfully, the dress worked out for both Carrie and SJP.

“And just like that, I repurposed my pain,” Carrie explained in her voiceover during the episode, after giving new life to the previously cursed designer number.

It looks like everything old really is new again — including “Sex and the City,” which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.
