Cancer update

Shannen Doherty’s cancer has spread. On June 6, the “Charmed” actress revealed that she’s undergoing radiation after learning her stage 4 breast cancer had migrated, explaining that five months earlier, a CT scan revealed “Mets in my brain” — a reference to brain metastases, a condition that occurs when cancer cells spread from their original site to the brain. She posted videos of herself being fitted for a special mask that’s worn while receiving radiation treatments in an enclosed machine. “My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life,” she captioned one of the clips. “I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirhadi and the amazing techs at Cedars-Sinai [Medical Center],” she added, “But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like.”

Neighbor needling

Love thy neighbor? William H. Macy is being sued after being accused of “knowingly and intentionally” cutting down his neighbor’s trees back in December 2021. In April 2023, the “Fargo” actor’s next-door neighbor Pierce Brown filed a $600,000 lawsuit in Los Angeles County, People magazine reported, alleging that Bill’s landscapers crossed his property line and “destroyed and removed or seriously damaged several healthy, decades-old mature pine trees and other vegetation” and also damaged a gate, causing the neighbor “loss of property value, loss of use and enjoyment of his property, a loss of privacy, an increase in noise, as well as emotional distress, irritation, annoyance, and discomfort.” In May 2023, the Emmy winner and Oscar nominee hit back in court documents denying “each and every allegation” of wrongdoing.

Splitsville

And just like that, it’s over — or is it? Taylor Swift and The 1975’s Matty Healy reportedly split up in early June after being linked for a month. TMZ first reported that Taylor was “single” after breaking things off with the singer. For most of May, Taylor and Matty were often seen together, and he even attended all three of her Nashville shows, sitting in her family’s section. A source told People magazine, “She had fun with him, but it was always casual. They are no longer romantically involved.” A source told “ET,” “They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other. Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship.”

Throwing a wrench in all the reporting, however, was Instagram gossip account Deux Moi, which in the wake of split reports claimed the pair were not over and would likely spend time together again once their “logistical problems” — Taylor’s on tour in America while The 1975 has tour obligations in Europe — came to their natural conclusions.

WWE legend lost

Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, better known as pro wrestling icon The Iron Sheik, passed away on June 7 at 81. The Sheik was born in Iran and became a huge personality in the then-WWF in the ’80s where he was one of Hulk Hogan’s fiercest rivals. Decades later, he went on to become a popular Twitter follow. Dwayne Johnson mourned the loss of “Uncle Sheiky” and detailed how one the late star’s popular catchphrases are now in the lexicon. “When I first came into the WWE, The Iron Sheik had pulled me aside because he was family. He said, ‘Bubba, let me tell you something. You come into the locker room, you sit down, you shut your mouth, you don’t say anything, and you watch and you learn. And then you understand who the good people and who the jabronis,'” Dwayne said in a Twitter video. “A couple years later when I became The Rock I borrowed the term jabroni… I used that term and jabroni became a term in [the] lexicon. I believe it’s in the Webster’s Dictionary now and they give me credit. No, no, no. The truth is all the credit goes to The Iron Sheik. That was his word… Thank you, Iron Sheik, for the memories. You are a legend. You will be missed, but never forgotten.”

R.I.P.

On June 5, Variety and other outlets confirmed that Anna Shay — one of the fabulously wealthy stars of the Netflix reality show “Bling Empire” — had died. “It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke,” the family of the star — an heiress to her global defense contractor father’s fortune — said in a statement. “Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten.”

Rehab bound

Bam Margera was placed on a psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles mental health facility after authorities felt that he was a danger to himself and others. On June 4, Bam’s brother, Jess, posted a desperate tweet asking if anyone had seen the former MTV star. TMZ reported that Bam had been sending suicidal messages to his family. Eventually, police tracked Bam down at a Trejo’s Tacos in Los Angeles. During a conversation with the former MTV star, authorities observed that his speech and behavior were erratic. Taking everything into account, including the disturbing text messages he’d been sending, Bam was placed on a 5150 hold and taken to a mental health facility. After being released, he headed to rehab at one of the Odom Wellness Treatment Centers, which is owned by former NBA star Lamar Odom.

Home… less

A home that for years belonged to King Charles III is leaving the royal family. In 2007, the monarch acquired a farmhouse in Carmarthenshire, Wales, and 192 acres around it through the Duchy of Cornwall that served as his official residence when he visited the British nation when he was the Prince of Wales. But now, neither he nor the new Prince of Wales, son Prince William, want it anymore. People magazine reported that the king has indicated that he will not renew the lease on the property  — known as Llwynywermod — when it comes up for renewal this summer. A spokesman told the magazine that William will use hotels and bed and breakfasts when he visits Wales rather than stay in the home. Moving forward, the former royal home will likely be leased out commercially.

Cancer reveal

Mike Ness, the lead singer of celebrated punk rock band Social Distortion, has tonsil cancer. The punk icon announced on Instagram on June 7 that the band is postponing its tour and album release due to his health. “In the midst of pre-production, I was diagnosed with stage one tonsil cancer. I was feeling well enough to continue with recording in the studio up until the very day before surgery,” he wrote. “The recovery from surgery is a day-by-day process and in three weeks we start radiation and that should be the last therapy I need. The team of doctors are certain that once finished with this course, I will be able to start the healing and recovery process.” Mike believes he’ll make a “full recovery.” “I want you all to know that this has opened my eyes to a whole new struggle. I know it’s one that many of you or your loved ones have personally endured, and my heart goes out to you-because I now know what it’s like from this heavy experience,” he continued before defiantly adding, “We WILL get through this…”
